The direct hydrogenation of CO2 to higher alcohols has the potential turn main contributor global warming into a valuable feedstock. However, for this technology become attractive, more efficient and, especially, selective catalysts are required. Here we present high throughput study on influence different promoters performance Rh−SiO2 catalysts. Fe and K were found improve ethanol selectivity at expense undesired CH4. best-performing catalyst, with composition 2 wt.% K, 20 Fe, 5 Rh, displays an EtOH 16 % conversion level 18.4 CH4 46 %. combination characterization techniques catalyst screening allowed us unravel role each component in complex reaction mechanism.
